ANAK to Perform for the 2012 Future Roots Festival in San Jose, Ca!

ANAK, celebrating their latest EP release, will be performing some of their originals at the 2012 Future Roots Festival in San Jose, Ca! This FREE event is to celebrate the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month for the South Bay! ANAK will be sharing the stage with Kollaboration SF 2011 colleague Alex Carbonel! ANAK will be performing at 4:30PM, so make sure to come early, enjoy the different bands and stick around for both ANAK and Alex Carbonel’s performances!

Come celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, right in the heart of downtown San José!

Together with Asian Americans for Community Involvement and MYX TV, San José Councilmember Ash Kalra is hosting the first ever Asian American Heritage Future Roots Festival, at Plaza de Cesar Chavez, on Saturday, May 26th, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

As each generation rediscovers its roots, it also defines its own identities through new ideas, cultures, and attitudes, becoming the foundation for each generation thereafter. While the festival commemorates Asian and Pacific Islanders throughout history, it also celebrates the artists, activists, and scholars of today. The Future Roots Festival presents us with an opportunity to honor those whose stories will someday become part of our API heritage.

The Sisters of Kappa Psi Epsilon, Epsilon Chapter would like to invite you to our 2nd Annual “PRICELESS” Benefit Concert. This Benefit Concert is dedicated to raising funds and awareness on the current worldwide issue of Human Trafficking. Human Trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which victims are exploited for labor or sex by means of fraud, force, or coercion. It is a crime that people do not wish to talk about. These crimes are happening all around the world, and sadly, Sacramento remains to be in the Nation’s top 5 as a “Hot Spot” for Human Trafficking.
This is why the Sisters of Kappa Psi Epsilon are so adamant about shedding light on this issue that is affecting our community in our own backyards.

The concert will consist of numerous artists (including DL Da Arsun, Ant Chedda, Jayne Rio, Ronalyne & Danelle, Makamae Melia O’ Polynesia, Kathleen Cabanayan and many more), guest speakers, and non-profit organizations that are actively advocating against Human Trafficking by spreading awareness to the CSU Sacramento campus and its surrounding communities.

All donations received will go directly to My Sister’s House, a non-profit organization focused on the needs of women and children impacted by domestic violence and or human trafficking in the Central Valley. My Sister’s house has created a safe Haven that has provided more than 12,000 bed nights of shelter to Asian and Pacific Islander women and children, has served more than 500 domestic violence survivors of ALL ethnicities in their award-winning Women to Work program and has educated more than 10,000 people about domestic violence and human trafficking.

ANAK Releases Their First EP!

The Bay Area R&B group known as ANAK has officially released their highly anticipated self titled album ANAK “EP”. This seven-track album consists of the most heartfelt, real, and exciting music of the year to come out of the San Francisco Bay Area. The release of this album marks a milestone in what has been a labeled by many as the most influential music group in northern California.

“This album was a long time coming,” said group member and producer Chris Baldomero. “Many of our fans have been waiting, wanting, and wishing for ANAK to release an album.” From Urban Pop songs such as “Pursue You,” “Make No Plans” to power ballad “Last Goodbye” and “My Heart Is Real,” the ANAK EP is reminiscent of R&B that each member of ANAK grew up listening to. Their hit single “Adore You,” which was performed for their award winning piece at Kollaboration SF 2011, is also included as one of their main singles.

ANAK is a four-man singing group (Anthony, Noah, Andrew, Chris) proudly representing the 707. Fusing their diverse musical backgrounds, they have developed a unique sound that fuses Hip Hop, R&B, Soul and Pop. Known for their meticulous harmonies, hip hop oriented rudiments, original production, and occasionally, their knack for bringing back those “old school jams”, they are quickly making a name for themselves in Northern California and beyond.
